Went out to sea off the north Kent coast yesterday to see the Red Sands Forts. A truly eerie place, designed by Guy Maunsell during WW2 to provide anti-aircraft fire in the Thames Estuary, now home to some Herring Gull and a pioneering adventive buddleia.
