The aspect of aging I find as painful as it is serene is the continuously shrinking circle of friends. Doesn’t seem long ago that I had a myriad of friends I could message and check in with. Now, maybe three or four. It can be both peaceful and sorrowful. Bear with me. I’m doing my best out here.

What’s a pretty rad mobile game you enjoy? Work starts again tomorrow and it’s a wildly hectic time, so I’ll be needing the distractions. I could put Stardew on my phone and make my new farm on mobile, but I thought I’d try something new. Also, it’s movie night once again. “Dark City” (1998)!

I bring this up in the podcast a lot because I know there are still message boards full of gamers turning their noses up at anyone who doesn't do it "like we had to!" Yea, I had to also. Who cares? We should ALWAYS encourage ANY way for gamers to play, not block them out like entitled brats.

Years ago, I used to get some flak from other retro gamers for not "promoting the hobby correctly" Basically, I refused to gatekeep it. "Save States?! You didn't 𝘳𝘦𝘢𝘭𝘭𝘺 beat it." "Original HW!" "CRT only" But I DON'T CARE how anyone play retro games. Did you have fun? That's 𝘢𝘭𝘭 I care about.

Japanese city pop from the 1980s, Earthbound, coffee, painkillers for my ankle and back. I have no idea what 40 is going to bring, but I’m going to go into it pretty mellow and content.

3:04am. Perfect time to continue my journey on Earthbound. Taking my kids to see Santa later on today. I’ll keep that magic alive for as long as they’ll allow me to do so.

Had Stardew in mind but then I had a wildly random itch for this classic. So, here we are!

I think it’s a day to start a new farm on Stardew. Thoughts? Concerns? Alternative suggestions?

Thinking it’s going to be a stay inside sort of Saturday. Need to ensure whatever my daughters come down with doesn’t get worse. Gives me time to catch up on housework as well. Anyone want to come help with some laundry and then play some Mario Party or Mario Kart?

Drifted back to sleep for a bit but now I’m up again. Seems my daughter is getting sick. Time for a small breakfast and some Teen Titans Go. She looooves TTG. No complaints here!

Yona of the Dawn is finally getting a second season and my weekend is made.

Adventure Time (on season 6) and some Switch 2 gaming. Stumble Guys and Plants vs Zombies Replanted. Why? Because I need my brain to shut up. And these sort of games are stellar for such a goal.

I have no goals for 2026 in so far as gaming, reading, writing, movies, etc. My hobbies will have no goals. I only have one goal: to love myself a hell of a lot more than I did in 2025. The bar is wildly low. But I think that’s a good thing. It means any success will be great!

Good morning. Some days I dive into something like Skyrim or Borderlands or a Final Fantasy/JRPG. I lose myself in the endless adventure and fantastical stories of these games. And some days I run around on ranked mode in Stumble Guys because my brain absolutely needs to shut off. It’s a toss up

Slept for a few hours. Up again for a round of meds and some gaming. Then back to sleep for a bit. Then meds and gaming. So on. And so on. And so on. The cycle must continue. The Wheel weaves as the Wheel wills. And Happy Thanksgiving, you wonderful folks.

Thanksgiving Eve has me playing Shimlar (text based browser RPG) and finishing up Frieren before diving into another series. Probably something I haven’t seen before, just to see what I’m missing out on. Anime. RPGs. A quiet night indoors. I have no complaints.

Tired pup is tired.

Debating how to approach my night but I’m pretty certain it’s going to be gaming and anime. The ol 1,2 punch. And I’m fine with it. If I’m in a rut, I might as well make the most of it.

Trying to remember the last time I felt truly hopeful about my future and maybe this makes me an idiot or something, but it’s been way too long. The rut I’m in grows ever deeper. Thank the gods for gaming. At least it helps get my mind off things. For a time, at least.

The way I am investing my time in cyberpunk 2077 is most likely not healthy. But, I’ve always been a completely devoted fan of open world games. You there. With the eyes that are reading these words. And these words. What is your all time favorite open world game?

So, in the meantime, I use this place and this platform to have conversations with the abyss. The void. Just shouting out into the 1s and 0s of the internet about things I enjoy and stuff that I am passionate toward. It’s therapeutic, in its own way.

One of the more difficult aspects of growing older is how friends (if any still remain at all) seldom reach out anymore. Not through malice, but due to lack of time or perhaps lack of thought toward yourself. It happens. People change paths. Grow apart. I understand it. Still, it is sad.
