Iâm far from the first person to note this, but itâs so striking how for hundreds of years American artists have looked to one of two settings for inspiration: our cities and our countryside Nothing about the generic suburbs of America, where most people live!

Networked district geothermal coming to CT, great stuff from New Haven here! This is the future, the governor foolishly killed a similar project in Hartford recently

Can geothermal technology solve the CT electricity problem?
A project underway in New Haven shows the potential of the system, which harnesses heat beneath the earth. But it's not suitable everywhere.

Contact the CT DOT to demand that they adhere to their own Complete Streets directive. Ask for connected sidewalks, marked crosswalks, walk signals, fewer lanes, and lower speed limits.

Relying on the property tax is wildly regressive, especially for cities like Hartford that host so many tax-free spaces (gov/college/hospital/etc) Tax the rich, tax capital gains, fully fund ECS and PILOT, distribute the cash to municipalities

Some exciting news from the Commissioner yesterday: DOT is rethinking train schedules for SLE, HTD & MNR lines to go beyond the old 9â5 commute. Mentions taking a âclean slateâ look at equipment, slots, and what service could look like if we were starting "from scratch" CT on the right trackđ

Daily reminder that the primary benefit of railway electrification is not to reduce railway emissions. It is to enable faster acceleration which reduces travel time and thereby increases frequency without adding operating cost. That then attracts more riders and thereby more revenue.

To me the thing that makes Fairfield County restaurants so mediocre is that youâre getting charged NYC prices ($15+ cocktails, $35+ mains) but instead of being on some charming street or in some cute building youâre spending $200 to be in the tackiest strip mall parking lot đ

In many countries in Europe (France â see vent at top below â and the Netherlands come to mind), they install âtrickle ventsâ to ventilate continuously in small doses throughout the day. In the US, our windows are so leaky and poorly installed that it generally isnât necessary.

Connecticut Courts have done this, we should absolutely have this statewide. Sidewalks and roads are owned by the state (or towns but that's the same thing). If we can unmask them in state court buildings, we should be able to unmask them on state owned roads (CC:

A hallmark of the Lamont era is the governorâs willingness to arbitrarily interveneâoften at the end of a long process involving experts and testimonyâon behalf of Fairfield County. Tolls, the 5002 veto, Marissa Gillette/PURA, the siting councilâŠyou really see a governor bumbling issue to issue.

Except commuter rail. The LIRR and Metro-North are actually part of the problem. $243.50 for a monthly pass to get from Yonkers to Grand Central, and then another $120+ a month in subway rides to get beyond Grand Central really is an affordability problem.
