Glad dad came to my wedding

I had such a fun time with the 4th graders at Concord Magnet School in Norwalk earlier this week. We talked about state government and how some of the laws I pass affect them. There was also a debate about whether we should have more days or school or fewer days of school since that is a state law.

My colleagues State Senator Sujata Gadkar-Wilcox and State Rep Savet Constantine and I attended the ExtraordiNari Connections Brunch & Bollywood fundraiser benefiting girls’ education in India. We had a great time and enjoyed seeing so many friends. Thanks for inviting us!

An absolute honor to congratulate attend the CT State Norwalk annual Military and Veteran Cord Ceremony. The occasion is dedicated to honoring graduating military and veteran students on campus. Mayor Barbara Smyth, former mayor Harry W. Rilling and I were invited to attend and say a few words.

Congratulations to these scholarship winners as they head off higher education and new adventures. Their achievements were recognized at a delicious luncheon with family and friends given by the Sons and Daughters of Italy in Norwalk. The members have continuously raised funds since 1965.

Haitian Flag Day is a Haitian holiday to celebrate the creation of the Flag of Haiti and revolution in Haiti that gave its people freedom from France. Norwalk has a large Haitian population and we are grateful for their contributions. Glad to fly their flag today at the house.

Daniel Obuchowski is May’s Veteran of the month. The flag is flying in his honor at the Norwalk American Legion. Dan was a wonderful man who served in the armed forces with honor. He resided in Norwalk with his wife Elsa and lived his life with humor, respect and in service to others.
