i started this a few months ago (right after the deltarune hype i think, early july) and nicknamed it "amaranth castle", but i don't think i will finish it. i still think it's cool that sgm and other free/stock stuff have so much versatility (when used right)

"it's not even hard to do, I just can't do it" is the most frustrating part of ADHD and it pisses me off.

One of the fundamental "magic of the internet" moments I've always cherished is finding a tiny creator who demonstrates surprising talent. A cool song with barely any views, a great new artist with a dozen followers, etc. The thrill is gone, replaced by doubt for "unverified" art thanks to genAI.

I've been playing Horizon Forbidden West off-stream and Hollow Knight: Silksong on stream, and both games have a really fun slow fall ability unlock. I just found it neat both games I'm playing have this and so had to put my intrusive thought into a meme.

In Super Mario Odyssey, kicking things is Mario's highest priority, overriding all other actions. If a kickable object, such as a football, is thrown at Mario while he is asleep, he will momentarily wake up just to kick it before instantly going back to sleep.

I'm glad I learned to appreciate games psychologically torturing their players before playing Silksong. Because this is now the 3rd bench that plays yet another completely different mean trick.

I do really like the idea of a small team of creators having such a success that they can basically f off and do whatever they want. No corp demands, no forced reveals/trailers/teases, no social community stringalonging. That's the dream.

Genuinely happy that the 7 year long development time was spent working at a leisurely pace, spending time with their families and flexing their creative muscles - with no pressure to expand their company, deliver sooner or read a single reddit post. Smartest people in our entire industry.
