LLMs do not understand, will not understand, and cannot ever understand information. It's a glorified search engine combined with auto-compete, and you should treat it as such. No matter how much LLM companies try to tell you their machines can think or reason, they cannot and will not. 12/12

I got the news today in my mail and I’m over the moon. I’m someone that subscribes to so many newsletters because content FOMO, ma then has a hard time sifting through those to get to my important messages. Love it.

If you're into fragrances, as I am, go to real perfumers. Some of my favs: AbdesSalaam Attar: Self-taught Sufi perfumer who only uses natural ingredients. Many of his perfumes feel like you're walking through a Middle Eastern bazaar. Milano Caffe, Cuoio dei Dolci, and Tabac are worth a sniff.

We would not. LLMs only repeat things they’ve seen. At any given moment, they can’t go beyond the current state of programming. They don’t learn from the code they produce, if you feed it back in, quality quickly degrades. So they need real programmers writing code not seen before to keep advancing.

If LLMs had been invented in the early 2000's, would we still have had advancements in programming like "convention over configuration" and metaprogramming?
