Iran deal MOU 10/11 Para 11 is a huge concession-- and a possible landmine. US vows to release ALL frozen Iranian assets "upon the implementation" of this MOU. Which means...what? Diplomacy avoids vague language like this, to avoid the parties having different interpretations of their agreement.

Iran deal MOU 9/11 Para 10 may be the most important: "Immediately upon the signing of this MOU, and until the termination of sanctions," US will grant waivers for Iran to sell its oil & other sanctioned products. ♦️Lifting sanctions might never happen. But US commits to de facto lifting on Friday.

Iran deal MOU, 8/11 Para 8 is the one Trump will point to when claiming he's "won": - Iran "reaffirms that it shall not procure or develop nuclear weapons." But this is has been Iran's consistent position ever since 1968. There is absolutely nothing here that did not exist before the war.

Iran deal MOU, 7/11 Para 7: US promises to drop all sanctions, and get the rest of the world to do so too. There's a loophole: It will happen "on an agreed-upon schedule." So, probably never. But promising something you won't deliver is sure to create yet another generational Iranian grievance.

Iran deal MOU, 6/11 Para 6: That $300 Billion fund. It's both enormous ($300 B!) and a nothing-burger (purely aspirational). The Gulf Emirates are definitely not going to pony up: Whatever $$ they give will be directly to Iran, as protection-money. So what happens when $300 B doesn't materialize?

Iran Deal MOU 5/11 Para 2: US vows to give up all attempts at regime change in Iran. That's good-- alternative is another forever-war. But what a betrayal of the Iranian protesters to whom Trump pledged, "Help is on the way." Para 5: Sure sounds like foundation for future Hormuz tolls, as "fees."

Iran Deal MOU, 4/11 Para 1 includes provision that may torpedo the whole deal: US pledges Israel's "immediate and permanent termination of military operations on all fronts, including in Lebanon." Does anyone believe Netanyahu will abide by this? When he doesn't, what will Iran do?

Iran deal MOU 3/11 Para 4: "traffic of vessels will be in proportion to the numbers of prewar traffic." In WHAT "proportion"? Para 4: US "undertakes to remove its forces from the proximity of" Iran in 30 days. Does that include bases in Qatar & UAE? This isn't fog-for-a-reason. Just incompetence.
