There's two parts of this problem. 1. Obtaining rare earths. 2. Processing rare earths. Even if Trump "got around China" on obtaining rare earth... he still has to go to China to get them processed. Processing rare earths is one of the dirtiest industries on the planet. China is about it.

I don't know that I'm in favor of democratic socialism; but I do want a social democracy. I'm not in favor of a genuinely socialist economy. I want capitalism and ownership of private equity, but with regulation and a social safety net, including universal healthcare.

It's ironic but Trump literally could have been a do nothing President, the economy would still be going strong and Republicans would've just got done a good showing in the 2025 election. Tariffs are killing the US economy and consumers are struggling to exist.

An OCMI (Officer in Charge of Marine Inspections) is a USCG officer who has to inspect the new engine/parts and sign off on it before the vessel is allowed to leave the dock. Maybe it's different, but I can't imagine that commercial aircraft would be treated much differently.

I don't know who needs to know this, but there's more to the government's involved in commercial air travel than just ATC. People acting like regulations and inspections don't even exist. In the maritime world, if we change out out the engine on a commercial vessel, it has to be inspected by OCMI.
