I'm a skeptical user of AI tools. I see they accelerate a lot of existing issues in society, turbo charging them. I don't buy the Silicon Valley hype, but I do see folks around me use tools every day and LLMs being increasingly embedded in enterprise software.

What about technical complexity. Increased of making users click a button to access an address in a popover, why not just display the address? Users might not know they need to click the button to access the address. #AllDayHey

For example, the NHS website uses terms like pee and poo rather than stool or urine. #AllDayHey

So how can we tangibly change things? There is research already done that we can look at to simplify things. What about adults with poor literacy levels? Maybe due to disability or English as a second language. Plain English. Active voice. No unnecessary words or jargon. #AllDayHey

Capability, opportunity and motivation lead to behavioural change. Like can you easily get on an app store? Do you have internet access? What thoughts do you have about yourself? #AllDayHey

But relying on digital services creates challenges like users with patchy connections, using assistive technologies, no fixed postal address, in poverty... Digital exclusion can come from lots of things. What prevents people from accessing key services? #AllDayHey

Remember back in the lockdowns during the pandemic when we had to use digital services to arrange vaccinations? Quite straightforward. 20 million adults booked this way. #AllDayHey For some this was the first time using digital services for health.
