Was talking to the others ‘bout this, but the irony is not lost that a plot beat in ARR is about helping the local community with trivial tasks, even though it doesn’t seem important bc community might have your back later; but then you end up with people calling anything they don’t like “filler”.

I always treated it as plot development and not filler; the Warrior of Light's best skill throughout the game and expansions is just.... talking to people and getting to know their lives and struggles, so when the stakes get higher later in an expansion everyone rallies to your banner.
