When I was 18-21 & living in Dundee, I was lucky enough that one of my boxing coaches was the legendary Dick McTaggart, the greatest British amateur boxer of all time. It was one of the biggest honours I ever had. Dick passed away at the weekend. A loss of a legend. RIP, Sir.

Day 25 of my Favourite TV Series of All Time countdown & today is No 4 It’s the last comedy on the list & by a country mile it’s the best. The single greatest spin-off of all time, the classiest sitcom ever made & just one 11 year long episode in the wider life of Dr Frasier Crane. No 4…Frasier!!

Day 24 & we’re on to No 5 on my Favourite TV Series of All Time countdown The most obscure show & the only mini-series on the list. But any prestige western that stars Tommy Lee Jones, Robert Duval, Diane Lane at her best & a who’s who of the 80s? AND lives up to that cast? No 5: Lonesome Dove

Day 21, so time for a ‘Special Mention’ hiatus! (1) Brooklyn 99: Hilarious for 6 seasons, then jettisoned ‘funny’ for ‘woke’ (2) Yellowstone: SO enjoyable but SO absurd (3) Game of Thrones: Peerless for 5 seasons. Sadly it had 7 (4) Sherlock: 3 amazing episodes, then disappeared up its own arse.

There’s a fair bit of macro-counting in my current high-protein eating regime. It’s not too time consuming but it IS a faff And it DOES have its advantages. Such as eating in places that serve food like THIS! Bloody love Rodizio! There are worse ways to take a break from a long night of writing!

Day 18 today on my Favourite TV Shows of All Time countdown and we reach No 8. This one was a toss-up with yesterday’s & you’ll understand why. It never hit quite the heights of The Simpsons but even now - after 26 seasons - it still has moments of genius, so wins on longevity. No 8 is…South Park!

Day 17 of my Favourite TV Shows of All Time countdown & we’re ‘well’ into the top 10 with…erm..No 9! 20 years ago this would’ve been vying for 1st, but going 2 decades too long has hit its legacy That said, at its best (seasons 3 to 12) there was nothing on TV as brilliant as my No 9: The Simpsons
