The corruption is at the heart of it. Revolving doors between politicians, political lobbyists, advisors, the offending industries and regulators is obvious corruption. The fact that it isn't illegal is a reflection on the corruption of our legislators. That they get away with it - corrupt media.

I'm sure there are plenty more too. Their main function seems to be to act as entirely ineffective fig leaves. Laws, police, courts and prisons for the plebs. Guidelines, expensive enquiries and ombudsmen for the rich and powerful. This gives us Hillsborough, Grenfell, BibiC & shit in the water.
