Thereâs so many places in DC that would benefit from becoming pedestrianized. Plaza act is a decent start but there are probably 20 streets that could use this rather than three.

It's very noticeable how much worse they made Dupont by shutting down the popular pedestrian streets around CT off Q St. What were once pleasant activated neighborhood spaces are now actively hostile instead.

The team just admitted that the 2036 completion date for the housing was never serious; they don't think they can deliver any faster than 2040. That's the date the Council budget office said is when the NON-stadium proposal would deliver by. So now the stadium provides no acceleration.

Interesting: An amendment from Ward 7 Councilmember Wendell Felder and At-Large Councilmember Anita Bonds that would have delayed ranked-choice voting (by requiring a feasibility study first) has been withdrawn. So for now it looks like RCV will come to D.C. elections in 2026.

The Council Budget Office's analysis of the RFK Stadium deal is out & it's even more expensive than first reported. Total DC Taxpayer Subsidy: $4.4 billionâźď¸ We need a better deal. Thatâs a huge price to pay with not enough coming back to DC taxpayers. There's still time to get it right.

RFK NEWS: The D.C. Council's independent assessment of the Commanders stadium deal is now public. Plenty to dig into in the 23-page analysis (including 5 takeaways below), but this stands out: The current deal "lacks formal constraints on public financial exposure."

There are undeniable charms to a detached house w/ a yard. But suburbia isn't just that. It's also dense apartment clusters. And it is truly truly stupid to have laws mandating that this kind of density be fenced into a driving-required pod where shops & amenities are banned.

Not only should it run all day but it could be significantly faster running modern multiple unit trains like this instead of slow diesel locomotives. Running faster would also help slot tighter with Amtrak trains.
