This evening, my stepson was asking me questions about the state of Iran and our country's involvement. He had heard some nonsense from other classmates regarding the news. Trying to explain the unnecessary and grotesque to a inquiring child is something I'm learning as I go.

After seeing @katesulli.bsky.social recommend Rainbow Rowell and catching a blurb this week from Chip Zdarksy's email, I had to get Rowell's book Cherry Baby. I know she's written for Marvel and is a novelist so, onto the pile to be read.

Sam Kieth has passed. There are so many great comics creators I love, but Sam is on my Mount Rushmore. The Maxx was a revelation when I first read it. What a sad loss. What a great creator. I will miss your light in this world intensely.

My co-teacher's daughter celebrated her birthday at the skating rink. The youngest was pretty excited to put her skates to use outside the living room. She grew confident enough to tell me to leave after while. I'm pretty proud of her this evening.
