People need to understand that if a drug company is getting heat because their drugs are so expensive people are either dying or going bankrupt, and that feels very bad and morally corrupt, there's one Professor you can always call to make the case these are signs of a healthy industry.

Thanks to @masnick.com and the folks @techdirt.com for the chance to write even more about the Afroman Trial and Section 230. It's so rare that my interests in rap music, defamation law, and intermediary liability protections come together so neatly.

One of the things I find increasingly funny is that a lot of these sort of "true", "classic", or "old fashioned" tastes are based on industrialization and globalization of regional products like coffee or bananas. And calling for a return to those flavors is seen as a virtue.

This is true in tech policy too and the origin of the phrase "bad facts make bad law."

We've known what Palantir was for a very long time. It makes it more egregious that a number of privacy luminaries spent years taking the company's money and defending it. If you were one of them, I remember. I'll wait for your email admitting you were wrong.

One of the things I've been wondering about lately is the transition from scarcity to post-scarcity and whether any sci-fi has done a good job of capturing this phenomenon. A lot of sci-fi kind of assumes scarcity will persist but just shift in form. Like fighting over land or planets.
