If your environment is meant to be investigated, it's on you not to create accidental mystery with random background objects. A locked door must eventually have a key, pages missing from a diary must be found. 10% of your players will lose their minds if they think they've missed something.

Learning is a wave, and this isn't the only peak in the curve. There's at least one previous peak full of games apparently unlisted on IGDB. And I feel like I'm on the upward slope of the next peak now. But these were part of a very large inflection in my understanding of video games.

Random game Saturday: THE FEAR, 2 whole discs of haunted mansion FMV "action." You play as a camera man and everything is first person through the viewfinder. Even walking slowly from room to room is a video clip, and holding the run button just plays the video faster. A relic of 2X CD-ROM design.
