Today, we remember the legacy and activism of Martin Luther King Jr. It was over 60 years ago that Dr. King said, “Injustice everywhere is a threat to justice everywhere.” We will continue working to fight injustice in our city so every neighbor can have safety, dignity, and peace.

On Saturday afternoon, a driver cruelly injured two dogs in Long Island City near the Pulaski Bridge. The NYPD made an arrest within two hours of the incident being reported. The dogs were treated by a vet at the ASPCA and will be put up for adoption.

BREAKING: Today, NYSNA nurses at 12 NYC private sector hospitals and 3 Long Island Northwell Health hospitals delivered 10-day notices to strike. NYSNA will continue to bargain between now and January 12th in the hopes of reaching agreements.

At 26 Federal Plaza, when I went to accompany my Venezuelan neighbors, I watched helplessly as they cried and begged to not be deported back to Venezuela. Despite it all, without due process and a fair pathway to US citizenship they were detained and deported by ICE. See my full statement.
