Just binge-watched Néro: The Assassin on Netflix, and damn it's good. Highly recommend it. Great characters, betrayals, excellent fight choreo, and some dark humour.

Stumbled across Néro: The Assassin on Netflix, and so far, it's really very good. Dark, funny, great characters, and so far, there's only 1 person in it (a side character) who could be considered a hero. Maybe 2 at a push. The rest (and there's a few) are all shades of dirty.

Went to Naples as part of our trip and saw the mighty Vesuvius across the bay.

Just had my first taxi ride in Italy. Didn't realise my grey hairs could get any greyer, but I guess losing 10 years of your life from a 15 minute journey will do that to you.

Went to see The Vatican today, and I'm conflicted. On the one hand: what glorious art, architecture, and history. On the other hand: for a religion based upon humility, poverty, and self-sacrifice, the sheer opulence of the place (not to mention tacky gift shops) is sickening.

Just tried going into a local large supermarket called Conad in Rome, to find they have a turnstile that's too narrow for my wheelchair. So, now I'm sat outside waiting for the rest of my family to shop because I can't go in.

Don't know who needs to know this (aside from the McDonalds in Rome where I took this photo) but if your public toilet is up a flight of stairs with no elevator, it's not a disabled-access toilet.

I'm in a cheap hotel in Rome and quite perplexed by it. Has lovely tiles in a generally clean bathroom, but lots of dirt and mould in the grouting. Has a kettle but no cups. And the hotel name outside is literally a sticker placed over the old hotel name. But...it's cheap, so I don't mind.

In the departures lounge, and manage to bump into our literal next-door neighbours who are also on their way to Italy. Definitely a small world!

Well, I'm at Gatwick on a mini adventure, and yet again check-ins seem utterly confused by electric wheelchairs. "Oh, you have batteries? Let me see what someone else says about it." "You sent us all your details in advance? We never received it. Give them again."

I'm at a layby selling what they call "Fire Tonic" which, apparently is apple cider vinegar infused with things like chilli, garlic, horseradish, cloves, lemon, and turmeric for 2 months before being blended with honey. I can't tell if it's genius or a fire hazard.

Anyone else have this? I'll cast a show on any streaming service from my phone. A few minutes in, I'll want to pause it, but my phone will adamantly insist that I'm not casting and that I'd not even been using that streaming app. Have to load the app, cast again, and then the app is like:

I've been getting back into the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy series after many years, and the most relatable part is how everyday objects like doors and elevators have been imbued with artificial intelligence and it just makes them obnoxious and frustrating to use and everyone hates it.

I never realised how dark Peter Pan is. An immortal kidnaps children to make his existence more entertaining. A magical fairy, unrequitedly in love with Peter, tries to kill her perceived rival in Wendy. And that's before you get pirates and their attempts to kill children.

Had a fun evening watching a classic.

Read an article about robot technicians spending millions to make a robot to help out in adult social care settings. Whilst I appreciate the technology behind it, it does amaze me how much money people will spend to avoid paying a decent wage and encourage humans to do the work.
