For a while now I have been trying to declutter my house. Some days it’s gone well and other days it has stalled. And then I learned about Swedish Death Cleaning. It sounds morbid, however, it is a really thoughtful way to declutter and get rid of things you don’t need.

This is practically a heat wave.

Yesterday I woke up to a frozen water pipe upstairs. That happens sometimes when it gets this cold. But it usually opens up within a day or two. I’m not encouraged it will resolve before Monday looking at this forecast.

Is it just me, or do Co-Op car washes not clean and dry as well as they used to? This is not a complaint. Just an observation. This was my windshield after the colour polish was sprayed. It used to cover my car completely.

I am very thankful to be home for the rest of the day. I am also thankful I do not have to venture out tomorrow. I do not make resolutions. Instead, I hope I am trying to be better in some way each day. Some days that is simply making the bed. Other days it is reaching out to help those in need.

I’m sorry, what now?!

Be careful driving out there Winnipeg friends. It looks like a lot of streets are not cleared close to the curb. Keep an eye out for cars suddenly swerving to avoid hitting a snowbank. Some roads I’ve been on today had spots where two cars could not safely drive beside each other (in two lanes).

I ordered a specially designed mug from a friend who is very skilled at that sort of thing. She dropped it off today with these unexpected treats. Her thoughtfulness has overwhelmed me. I absolutely love it!

Operation Red Nose Winnipeg is suspending service tonight. (I'm their media liaison.) We should be back up and running ... er, driving tomorrow. (Myself included!) Please share this to let Winnipeggers who were hoping for a ride tonight know. Email I just sent to media attached.

Today, I am extremely thankful for my neighbour who shovels the snow from my back door to the garage. The space between our houses is a bit of a wind tunnel and snow piles up against my back door. Without his help, I would be snowed in.

I am very thankful for a job that allows me to work from home on days like today. I am thankful for a warm home that protects me from the harsh winter weather today. But I am mostly thinking about those without such comfort. Please consider supporting groups that help the unhoused.

The CPKC Holiday Train 🎄 🚂 rolls through #Winnipeg tonight. Catch the lights and free entertainment (Jade Eagleson + Teigen Gayse) at Panet Rd. & Molson St. from 9:15 - 9:45 p.m. CT. Attendees are encouraged to bring a non-perishable food item to support local food banks.
