A 1996 SQUARE recruitment ad featuring various tidy workstations at their Tokyo Arco Tower offices. A lot of Macintosh Quadra 700's, a Quadra 800/Workgroup Server 80, Digital Celebris GL-5133-ST's, (SGI) Indigo2. Looks like someone was a fan of Fatal Fury Special and Macross 7.

I found a side-by-side 1996 Data East advertisement for their cancelled basketball game Air Walkers, which reveals their overseas marketing department renamed it Data East's B-Ball for outside Japan (as seen at their AM booth) . The ad on the right appears to be for arcade operators in South Korea.

The former CAPCOM Hirano Plant in Osaka, opened in Feb 1992, closed Dec 1996. The CAPCOM name was still on the awning in 2010. This was also a Service Center location printed in CAPCOM SFC game manuals. This plant and the CAPCOM Matsubara Plant (see image, video in reply) are almost identical. 1/2

The old JALECO office in Tokyo, known in 1982 as Japan Leisure Company, the company opened this office on May 15th, 1982. The company would move out in 1988 but would keep this space as a service center. JALECO opened a new head office in 1988 and with it came a new JALECO logo.

Count me in as another fan of the Xbox 360 Game Room. It was how I found Konami's "Jungler" from 1981 (created by the same individual at Konami in Osaka that created Frogger). Part of the reason I left the Xbox brand behind was Microsoft's abrubt, silent cancellation of it. No warning. Just gone.

In the interview, Ueda gives context for the mysterious dinosaur tiles found within Lady Bug's sprite data. These sprites were actually designed to serve as an in-game ad for Ueda's next planned project, an entirely dinosaur-themed game, that ultimately never came to fruition.

Digital storage is more expensive than it has been in a long time, with no signs of slowing down. Markets need to *grow* to keep producing results for these companies — by limiting your audience to only people who can afford $1000+ machines and pay $70 rentals, I truly do not know how this continues

Sony operates thier own disc-pressing factories in Japan (Sony Music Solutions) and Austria (Sony DADC). Sony also operates their own vinyl factory in Japan. For a company that can just press their own discs, and then bring back a format like vinyl, this is just sad and kind of frustrating.

This is NOT right. It's bad enough that a game can get lost amongst a sea of titles on the online store space. PlayStation is removing the ability for players, gift buyers (family members), to actually purchase titles in the same physical space where they purchase other essential items. Lost sales!

Beep21 has just published an interview with Yoji Ishii, Hiro and Masaki Kondoh to mark the 40th anniversary of Fantasy Zone. In it, we learn that it was the late Yoko Kobayashi / 小林陽子, character designer for Alex Kidd and Teddy Boy, who designed Opa Opa and most of the other characters in the game.
