Reading over the chats of the start of the AWS outage is an apocalypse preview. Our site was down and the people were reporting that all the tools we use to assess how down it is are also down.

Things are getting easier for Cooper but I’m still adjusting 😸 he’s been eating great and peeing and a tiiiiiiny bit of poop (ok because of all the anesthesia)

The guy who delivered the crate yesterday was so nice he brought it to the 2nd floor for me. I called about adding an extra tip but they can’t. But she did say she can review him and say what a good job he did. At least I tipped a decent amount up front. Wish I had thought to hand him cash.

Coop did ok overnight a little agitated at certain points but ok. Me? I just forgot how to spell “jewel.”

Crate finally unfolded (thanks YouTube) and I did NOT make it to full tears just grunts of frustration. And now I can foster a Doberman after he’s recovered because this crate is huge

And now I can’t figure out how to unfold the crate 😭

It’s on its way!! And even though I used the store website to order it seems like actually they are using DoorDash.

I ordered a large metal dog crate. I was hoping he wouldn’t have to be in one but the fabric one I got is not good enough. Thank goodness for same day delivery from my local store. Or at least I hope it shows up. I’ve not ordered from them before I usually go in person.

Coop was able to open up the panel zipper. He’s also got his cone off multiple times. Having a smart cat recovering from surgery is hard.

I called the vet and they gave some good tips that I can use paper for litter or puppy pads. They also said to try to cover the cage with a blanket but that hasn’t made much of a difference.

Coop got himself absolutely coated in litter and wet from his water bowl from thrashing around his playpen. Of course can’t bathe him until sutures are out so tried to get off as much as possible. I hope as it dries it will just come off.

I haven’t eaten anything yet today which is probably why I feel upset about Cooper but everything sounds bad.

Cooper is home from surgery and doing pretty well. He’s a bit agitated with being confined to the playpen. The zipper top is quite flimsy and I’m scared it’s not going to hold up to 6 weeks of repeated unzipping.

I’m usually NEVER carsick. I can be on my phone usually. But the Tesla I was in on my way home really got me bad. I’m glad I hadn’t eaten yet because otherwise I’d have been actually sick.

Coop’s surgery went well! Now he’s staying overnight and I can go get him tomorrow morning. 🖤

Just dropped Cooper off for his knee surgery. It will be a long recovery so I’m stressing with the responsibility of keeping it up but I think he’ll handle it ok.

At work I moderated our AMA on bisexuality and at the end mentioned I was also bi and said “I’ve been here the whole time!” Ala @samreich.bsky.social. I’m sure no one else got the joke but I found it hilarious.

Tried the treat form of a joint supplement for Coop. The only treat he likes so far is minnows but I thought I’d at least give him the chance to not have to get a pill every day. Alas he doesn’t even acknowledge it is edible.

I very much over estimated how long it would take to get to my Dr appointment and now i’m 30 min early. I’ve been here many times!! I should know by now!!

Coop’s knees are most likely a developmental issue. Which in a way I’m relieved that he didn’t hurt himself under my watch. Even though I know that is equally not under my control.

Took Coop for a 2nd opinion consult today and I’m so glad I did. I liked her plan much more and feel more comfortable. I’m also not sure if I misunderstood the first one or not but he doesn’t need any pre surgery rest so glad I can relax about that.

Had to absolutely cajole myself to do just 15 min of exercise and then trick myself into keeping going for 15 min more to get to 30.

Oooof got the estimate for Cooper’s surgery. I can afford it no problem but danngggg. I am going to go to the other specialty vet Thursday to see how it compares.

My promotion was announced today and got lots of nice congratulations from coworkers. Many people said it was long overdue. While that’s somewhat true I also didn’t really push that hard for it so I don’t feel aggrieved about it at all.

Sorry but I do love Reddit. I was picturing Cooper having to be in a cramped wire crate but on there I realized I can get something like this. I’ve seen cat rescuers online use them too it just didn’t occur to me.

Diagnosis from the orthopedic vet is Cooper has bad knees. Definitely needs surgery on left and maybe even right eventually. There’s two options and 2nd involves waiting til he’s fully grown. Trying to limit activity now and as chill as he his it’s TOUGH and I’ve only been back an hour 😭.

Probably shouldn’t have gone for a walk today with the air quality. I seem to be in a more sensitive group and start to feel it at 70-80 and it’s 100 now.

I am going to be making my own treat puzzles I think.

While I did walk to get groceries I didn’t get a good exercise session in and now I can’t sleep.
