question for my fellow fiction writers: do you regularly start a story with an idea you like, only to have it peter out in a page or so after the initial novelty wears off? it seems to happen to me every time i'm between big projects, and i can never tell what will click and what won't.

really enjoying Joe Hill's latest KING SORROW. a big book, but very well-paced (sometimes maybe a little too fast, but there's a lot going on), and Hill's ability to make familiar archetypes into complex, morally fallible individuals is on point. also, the scary bits are extremely good. #FridayReads
