This is wild.

All these people need do is keep his confidence that they will praise & defend him. As long as they do that, they can run wild — pushing some ideas of his to wild extremes and committing his administration to causes, like gutting federal support for medical research, that had not been his before.

These people know they could not hold the positions they do — or, in some cases, any positions of public trust — under any other President. And there are other people under Trump, who have much more specific ideas about government policy than he does, who see their chance to make them real.

There is value in occasionally reminding ourselves of the obvious. Donald Trump is very old. His impulse control has diminished. His attention span is shorter. His need for constant affirmation is greater. Throughout his second administration are now people who are anxious only to please him.

Because there are no left wing groups. There is no leftwing counterpoint to The Oathkeepers, 3 Percenters, Proud Boys, Patriot Front, The KKK, etc. etc. etc. Are you starting to finally see the problem?
