The experience of CPTSD is very often being utterly convinced absolutely nothing can change for us-- but utterly sick & tired of being sick & tired. That conviction that nothing can change is an illusion reinforced by old conditioning. It FEELS very real-- but it's a CPTSD lie.

It takes ENORMOUS focus, discipline, & self-compassion to build a life worth living when coping w/ chronic pain or complicated health issues every day, every minute. It IS possible & realistic-- but do not let anyone make you feel inferior for struggling w/ it. They have no idea.

No "failure" to achieve a specific goal makes you a "failure" or "unworthy" as a person. That's CPTSD trying to make you feel like garbage & get you to quit. All "failure" at a specific goal makes you is human. A work in progress, like the rest of us-- & worthy of another chance.

75-year trend of October temperatures. It's as if something has changed. 🤔

There are plenty of times when "pushing through" actually IS an appropriate strategy-- but many survivors have been trained to "push through" in moments of pain & exhaustion that are guaranteed to cook our ability to perform. Judicious, not random, "pushing through" is the tool.

Global October temperature classification. It was the 3rd warmest October on record (2024, 2023). 61% of the globe is in some shade of red; while only 13% is in some shade of blue.

Yeah. We'll never be the person we would or could or "should" have been without what happened to us. But the person we are, right here, right now, deserves to be loved & respected & supported w/ all the passion & commitment that we "should" have received over all these years.

Remember today that your bullies & abusers would love nothing more than for you to keep blaming & shaming yourself for your symptoms & struggles. Relating to yourself w/ compassion & realism would really piss them off & make them nervous. That sounds like a plan to me.

Even if they're out of our life or dead, the beliefs & behaviors of our abusers frequently live on in our reflexive self-judgments & harsh self-punishments. Shaking out of those conditioned patterns-- refusing to do their dirty work for them-- is the backbone of trauma recovery.

Any day we develop our relationship w/ ourselves, learn to trust ourselves more, learn to understand ourselves more, learn to have our own back & be on our own side & give ourselves the benefit of the doubt, is a good day in trauma recovery-- no matter what else is happening.

The true issue is not the presence of thought but our entanglement in its content. The mind, left untrained, grasps at whatever appears, mistaking transient mental movements for reality. Night everyone look after yourself.
