Went to a demo against the war on Iran today. Left very quickly. First time I’ve ever felt so unsafe at a demo that I’ve left - been going to demos since 1991. Have been actually attacked by cops at some. Organisers failed to do basic demo safety eg no de-escalators, no-one ejecting antisemites.

Entirely unsurprising. The US and other allied powers have been providing the Ukrainians targeting data and intelligence since the start of the invasion in 2022.

The same goes to all armed forces engaged in genocide.

One of the coolest things about my job is dealing with the interpreters - I genuinely love listening to people speaking their native languages; especially the ones I’d never heard of before. I love that I live in a country that has people from all over the world in it. No borders, no bosses!

Probably an Israeli strike; the Yanks tend to just hit these targets once (cf the strike on a Red Crescent hospital in Afghanistan or the bombing of the air raid shelter in Baghdad in 1991)

I wrote about "Nationalism without borders": the way patriarchal conservatism is an ideological project whose adherents are in conversation worldwide. The politics of male grievance have become an animating force globally, an international brotherhood retrenching control of "their" property.

The overarching goal is reproductive control--denying autonomy to those designated as gestational resources, coercing those who "shirk" their "reproductive duty", and managing the populations of "undesirable" demographics. Sex and reproduction is a central fixation of reactionary regimes.

They don't like UKG, Jungle, Grime or any other very clearly English cultural forms. Yes it's very clearly English Nationalist, but it's also at a more fundamental level about burning away all cultural specificity to a purified core.
