I've been thinking about all the games I've played this year, and it's been a really solid one. My tops (in no particular order): Expedition 33 Donkey Kong Bananza Trails in the Sky 1st Chapter Remake Dispatch Silent Hill 2 Remake (I know it released last year) Final Fantasy Tactics Blue Prince

My theory is that Mario Kart World will see some love and updates, but not until 2026. Total guess on my part, but maybe they want to let Crossroads run it's course instead of fighting for attention. I wouldn't be surprised if they're trying to give Air Riders some breathing room, too.

Still having a good time ~10 hours in. Not great, but good. The combat is the highlight. It scratches that itch with the targeting aspect. Fights feel more like puzzles to be solved optimally, which is what's going to keep me going. Big "Press Turn" energy that will cover for a slow-ish story.

Lots of people forgetting multiple categories exist in the comments. I loved Blue Prince and Split Fiction, but they weren't going to make this list. Doesn't mean they shouldn't be honored in other areas. Trails in the Sky FC Remake isn't on here, but I bet it gets some nods in best RPG or Remake.

I started Fantasian Neo Dimension on the Switch 2. I’m having a good time so far, and it seems like it will be the perfect game to take on the go. (Which makes sense given it originated as an Apple Arcade title.)

A bus of Bronx middle schoolers pulled up to the Capitol this morning for a long-planned field trip just a few hours after the government shut down. All Capitol tours were cancelled as the guides can’t work in shutdown. So I escorted them in myself and gave them a personal tour. They were great!
