H.D. really said “let me write a sequence” then proceed to do that 1,000 times over.

I am always so compelled when Yeats employs a longer line. There is a magic when he follows where the language wants to be parsed not when the meter wants to. It creates an un-anchoring. Funnily enough when he works with longer lines his meter is far more varied and versatile.

I’m just really frustrated because I’m not being pushed or challenged enough as a writer. I feel like I’m stagnating and becoming too comfortable.

depends on what process works for you, ultimately, but generally it's better, i think, to have desires (dreams, questions, fiery directions) for your poems than designs (set plans, firm goals)

I just heard Silver Springs after years of not listening to Fleetwood Mac. My mother LOVED that song and hearing it again brought me to tears. I remember us driving on the 132, windows down in the Central Valley heat just listening to that song. I swear it was like she was in my room listening along
