A lot of the issues I have with my social care are mainly caused by systemic problems. Mainly I mean underfunding via local authorities, which are underfunded by central government. Social care should be a top priority. It’s left to sink instead. #pwME #MECFS

I was in a very scary place with this 6 months ago. I only got out of it by finally having care provided and kind of stabilising my PEM situation. I still get PEM easily, but I’m out of rolling PEM at least. Cruel, unavoidable pain. #pwME #MECFS

Getting my hair cut off became a necessity for my wellbeing. I could only wash it once a month on average. I felt gross and not at all myself. I love the buzz cut! I can’t take a proper self, cos arms don’t work that way. But I’m so happy with it and feel more myself 🙌🏼 Now, to rest. Phew. #pwME

When we explain PEM to doctors, carers etc. they usually get that active exertion (running, walking, showering, reading etc.) can lead to PEM. But often don’t understand passive exertion (being in a chair, noises, someone talking to you, hot temperatures etc.) can lead to PEM.

I’m seeing even well-meaning accounts criticise disability cuts as hitting “the most vulnerable.” Reminder: disabled people are not inherently vulnerable. We are vulnerable when governments choose to withhold the resources disabled people need to live dignified and secure lives.

I say this with kindness. Folk too disabled to open their own door need the carers who feed, wash and dress them to have access to their homes. I’m too disabled to open my own door four times a day to let my carers in. I don’t get a choice to withhold access. #pwME #MECFS

A total stranger just let themselves into my flat, didn’t introduce themselves, and started pottering around my kitchen. Social care in the UK is wild! This was a replacement carer. My usual person called off. Wtaf?!! She turned out to be lovely and thought I’d been told. #SocialCare
