I’ve been thinking about how I’ve failed to replicate the success I had on Twitter on any other platform and I realized that a big part of it is that after Twitter’s destruction, I feel like I don’t have it in me to try to do that again and that none of it really matters.

On 3/24/21 my mom, bothered by lingering back pain and some other weird symptoms, and despite just having a dr appointment where things were "normal" went to the hospital. 6 days later we learned she had pancreatic cancer. 24 days after that she was dead. This time of year feels a bit "off" for me

The country is crumbling, my little dog’s mortality is showing, my spine is threatening me with another injury/surgery (right when my insurance might go away!), and one of my books is part of the LibGen/Meta mess. I’m feeling surprisingly calm and that itself is kind of scaring me.

It feels like my dog aged suddenly in the last 6 weeks. I'm having a hard time grasping that his life now might just be slower, quieter, a little wobblier, and a lot more snoozy. Activism in action!

I had a public clash with an older gentleman today. The gist of my argument was “stop blasting us with a fire hose of ugly negative rhetoric in our PT waiting room and, you know what, I believe the world DOES still have good people in it” I hate confrontation but I stand by the sentiment.

My current car is the first car I have ever truly loved. This has led to me having much more experience with the car was than ever before. Consequently I have learned that I care way less about tire shininess than a lot of people.

So my name does not have a space between “Jo” and “Ellen” but sometimes, especially if I’m not careful when filling out applications stuff ends up having a space. For example, my passport. When using that to get my REAL ID the names had to match so now, all my IDs actually have my name wrong 😂

Online there’s a lot of this feeling that the most negative take is always the most realistic/intelligent. I disagree with this. Do we have to be realistic? Yeah. But I think we can do that and still maintain kindness, hope, and, you know, the ability to not be insufferable assholes.
