CT’s PUC sets a great example for other states. I hope they can withstand this pressure.

This doesn't just affect data centers but for EVs, heat pumps, industrial electrification, etc.). Demand flexibility can be used to solve problems for all of those areas. And it's much cheaper than building out new generation and T&D!

The fed government has so many amazing data sets that I use regularly, including ACS data for weighting survey results, local weather data for energy models, EIA data for utility info, and CBECS/RECS data for building information. If they go away, the impacts will be significant and widespread.

40 books read in 2024. I snuck the last couple in during the last week of December.

Recently finished @doctorvive.bsky.social's book and it was great. Unlike other books like this, it doesn't focus on the past and parallels of tobacco and fossil fuels, but what FF propaganda looks like today and (most importantly) strategies for fighting it. An interesting read! #energysky

Yesterday was a cold sunny day, so I wanted to see how my solar production aligned with the run time of my new heat pump. There were some periods where I was probably getting free heating (especially in the a.m., although not as many as I expected. Still, a fun data visualization! #energysky

Induction cooktops have so many non-energy benefits. Today my 8 year old made herself ramen while I was working and I didn't worry her getting burned or anything catching on fire and clean up was incredibly easy. To me that is just as valuable as any energy savings or indoor air quality benefits. 🔌💡

Great article (and thread). Every time I read about DAC, the scale always shocks me. The largest DAC plant in operation removes 4,000 tons of CO2/year, which is equivalent to only about 850 cars (i.e., tiny). It seems like investing in EVs, e-bikes, or public transportation is a much better deal.
