Over two decades ago, the European Court of Human Rights held that trans people should not be forcibly “othered” as a third gender. Recent decisions in the UK have obscured this, which is why we should push back on the idea that affirming trans folk in their gender is a “radical” move. It’s basic. 🏳️‍⚧️

The question is always "what if a kid is wrongfully transitioned" and never "what if a trans kid is denied the ability to transition and endures years of excruciating dysphoria and has to have multiple surgeries later in life to fix the issues caused by going through the wrong puberty."

“Frameworks permitting routine exclusion or discretionary verification of sex based on appearance or stereotypes would raise serious concerns under international human rights law…” UN experts remind the UK that it must avoid gender policing and ensure trans folk can live with safety and dignity. 🏳️‍⚧️

“Draft education guidance is the latest in a long series of transphobic policies targeting schools. “If this becomes law, it will only compound the harm already being done to Trans+ young people,” @sasha98.bsky.social 🧵

Some good news; The @nionwomen.bsky.social petition has now passed 85,000 signatures increasingly demonstrating that the transphobes’ claim to be representing “women” is a lie.

Today is Trans Day of Remembrance. Trans folk endure political violence that negates their identities, strips away their healthcare and excludes them from public life. They’re trashed as an “ideology.” But they’re people. They deserve to live in a world that unconditionally nurtures their existence.
