The problem is that this posits racism as a natural response to irregular migration. In doing so, it ignores the fact that racism is the product of Society. A society obsessed with policing borders is liable to be more, not less, racist. This assists, rather than tackles, the far right.

It's alarming how many people need to hear this: racism is not the natural and inevitable response to the presence of (the wrong number of) racialised Others. It is a learned response, and as such it is contestable and replaceable. This is anti-racism 101. Entry level stuff.
