Playing DAWless live sets has been such a mindfucky challenge. The limitations make playing pre-composed, pre-arranged music nearly impossible and things are always on the brink of collapse, oftentimes caving in beautifully. I guess I play live now. And I’m loving the chaos and unpredictability of doing improv sets. First Burial Grid live performance this Saturday.

There’s too much music. Not enough cave paintings. Enough is enough.

I truly envy people who never accidentally set fire to bridges.

I wonder what it says about me that I can only comfortably date people with the executive function of a golden retriever.

The older I get the more I feel that music is an incredibly self-indulgent art form and a very poor conduit for genuinely connecting with others. More than anything it feels like a spiritual practice. A personal ritual that begins and ends with the creator.

For no real reason I’m digging into artists with massive discographies that I’ve overlooked due to snobbery or presumptions of blandness. I’ve started with Pearl Jam. Will record my findings here.
