A topic that I have to cut from the 4Kids video is the idea that a public corporation is legally obligated to maximize shareholder value (bump the stock). I've seen this idea repeated in spaces across the political spectrum to explain (or justify) a bad business decision. But it's just not true.

All the "which seat on the airplane would you take" memes greatly overestimate how willing I am to talk to other people on an international flight.

I don't tweet politics (because no one should get their takes from the Pokémon guy), but I think it's very telling that even Stan Kelly - who thrives on making wholesome-looking parodies of conservative talking points - can't make the stuff in Minnesota not look like a nightmare in jest.

People will probably use the "relatively small group" bit as a "gotcha" against GameFreak, but this is a smart thing to do. They do not want to be a huge gaming studio, but still want to fund things other than Pokémon, and they have hundreds of millions to do it. It's a win for all, surely?
