Rayquaza’s one of several Pokémon who *seem* to have kept their original names for the English localizations, but then the two versions’ pronunciations are so completely unlike one another they might as be different names. In Japanese, its name is spelled “Rayquaza” but pronounced “wreck ooh-za.”

For the next installment of “Japanese kids magazines are getting out of control with their pack-in bonuses,” the issue of CoroCoro Ichiban! that went on sale today comes packaged with a portable fan.

It’s so weird to see an issue of CoroCoro Comics with an actual cover image for a change 😅. Literally every other issue of the magazine I’ve ever bought has covers that consist of a collage of various art assets vomited onto a canvas with the CoroCoro logo slapped on top of it.

Happy Father's Day to Satoshi's dad, whoever he is! Satoshi's father (and grandfather!) were first brought up by his mom in the second episode of the original Pocket Monsters (1997) series, "Showdown! Pokémon Center!" The episode debuted on TV-Tokyo on April 8th, 1997.

Sorry to be redundant, but would anyone be able to provide a scan of the panel on the right from Issue 3 of the "Pokémon Surf's Up, Pikachu" comic book? My understanding is that the Gym Leader's referred to as "Jeremy" in the comic book version but I'd like to see that with my own eyes if possible.
