Alternatives to the evil dogshit giants are out there, but as everything stands currently thanks to capitalistic design, they can't really compete: the alternatives will always offer less, and many times even worse and slower if they are free, otherwise there will be a cost to privacy or quality

Unfortunately, the paywalls will helplessly push poorer people towards free alternatives. And free alternatives exist but it is very hard to sell (figuratively) those when there is already a free giant that does it better!! We really need to educate ourselves in the hidden costs of convenience tho
