Car dependency esp in small towns & rural areas often enables abusive family or caretakers, who can control what access their victims have to the outside world. Poor, disabled and young people especially. As a form of private property, the car can be controlled in ways that public transit cannot.

This is ridiculous. Also, keep in mind the policing. And the over-policing of people of color that use e-bikes.

The Dutch have something called the Flexible Working Act, which allows workers to submit a written request to work from home, at least in part. Employers must have a good reason for refusing worker requests. Why can't the USA have laws like this?

Things motorists have told me: - Cars are better for the environment than buses because buses are bigger. Trains are the worst because they are big big. - Speeding is good for the environment, because it means fewer cars stuck in traffic. - Train and bus crashes kill more people yearly than cars.

Cyclists: salmoning on a sidewalk. Is this good or bad? If a bike lane or road isn't available or safe, does it matter which direction to go on a sidewalk? I salmon, because if I go with traffic I cannot see drivers turning right onto ramps and side streets.

What do we call the region between White Oak and Burtonsville? Fairland? Calverton? Tech Road? Cherry Hill? The MVA is called the White Oak MVA, but nobody would say the shopping center with Kohl's and Target was in White Oak. Google Maps calls it Calverton east of Route 29 and Fairland west of 29.
