The tripod was on a tilted rock, so I was a little nervous that the whole thing might go over! Still, I wanted to get in the picture with that fantastic sunset!

It is tough getting photos that look 'Wintery' when there is so little snow this year! So, instead I found a creek in a gorge that gets very little sun. The ice formations were beautiful! I got the seat of my pants wet sitting on a snowy rock, but that is a small price to pay to see this!

It is freezing here today so I am thinking back to warmer times...

It was the night that it almost wasn't. The clouds were just too thick. There was no point in going out there. Walking down the pitch Black trail. Climbing over rocks. What would be the point? And then I started taking pictures! The first showed a glow. Then the clouds opened up!

Disastrous storm surge struck western AK Sunday. All 6 NWS upper air sites in the area have chronic issues (see alt-text). In addition to no releases from 2 sites, 2 sites are releasing only 1x per day instead of 2x. 2 have intermittent issues, 1 of these (Nome) had no releases 10/9 or 10/10 (1/2)

Stormy Angel WHen the weather comes in at Lake Tahoe, go outside, not inside! All the best drama is on the stormy days! Where a big coat if it is cold, or borrow one of mine for the transition times, then throw it aside for the Photos! But don't hide from the storm, embrace it!

Some of my older work I don't care for anymore, but this one is still a favorite. Taken all the way back in 2011, I love the intense light on the rocks, the steam rising from the water and the almost hidden detail in the trees in the distance. Simply wonderful! What do you think? Do you like it?
