I'll forever be grateful to Jonathan Green, past editor of Meanjin. In 2018, Jonathan took a gamble on a very green, slightly annoying, eager new writer. He continued to publish my work online & in print until 2022. As an untrained writer, the editing process helped me learn the craft of writing.

It is absolutely true that universities are not properly funded. It is also true that universities cry poor when they are spending millions and millions in areas that do not reflect the priorities or wishes of students, staff, and the communities to which these institutions belong

Melbourne Uni needs to explain this bullshit. This is destroying critical cultural infrastructure. Unimelb axing Meanjin, ANU scuttling the Australian National Dictionary Centre, and then universities wonder why they can’t seem to exert any influence over the national discourse.
