There are plenty of things from the previous version of US democracy that need to be set aside. Due process, freedom from unreasonable searches and other similar protections most definitely deserve to be maintained.

When you read this it becomes apparent that Elon Musk is a showman, nothing more. He's not an engineer. The whole thing is an act.

Refusing to establish basic facts in court.

I think constitutional crisis has been an apt description of our situation for a while now. I think today, if you have to pick one, is the day we flipped to an authoritarian regime. Once you ignore courts and argue in court you are above the law, that's good enough for me.

Other people are still at "is it a constitutional crisis yet?" and I'm at "the crisis was several exits ago, the car has crashed, we're now just seeing how many cars end up in the pileup and how high the casualty count is" or "the house is actively burning down, the question is what's left after."

Now I understand why they are having trouble selling cars. They are threatening to arrest people who go to where they sell them.

This is a courageous statement. I hope this courage sparks more. The core problem is that the regime is threatening universities with something near elimination unless they betray their core values and mission - which is just another path to elimination.
