A6: Thinking back to our opening question, I think a "Victorious Future" must necessarily be a co-constructed one, a future that, much like the good ole Fortnite gaming lobby, is made by a multitudinous mix of folks, all doing our own dances yet working toward the same #victory. #literacies

A5: My biggest suggestion? Look where the youth are gaming and follow them there! Almost a decade ago, I was teasing my high school students for their fascination with a new game called "Fortnite." Now, I play all the time. #literacies

A5: As a gamer infinitely engrossed in any and all character creation processes, I would be very interested in the #literacies and language practices to be explored specific to how students and gamers intentionally make and remake themselves at this preliminary stage 👀

I think one of the key elements here is the possibilities for language reinvention that happen in these "zero gravity" spaces! Gamers as second-language users mold the language in increasingly creative ways, for example. #literacies

Equally important here is how second-language English users in gaming spaces are not just "speaking" the language, but reclaiming it for themselves. #literacies

A1. I think about how “victory” can signify many different things depending on the context. Victory can suggest a binary between winners/losers in competitive gaming. I’m curious how cooperative gaming methods might help redefine how “victory” can look in learning environments. #literacies

One of many issues with right coded classical education. Instead of treating canonical texts as invitations to explore and appreciate truth and beauty, it treats them as the embodiment of truth and beauty. Under this model, reading is about submission to existing ideas, not making meaning of them.

This was definitely the advice I got. I was told "it's a national search" unless I wanted to limit options.

I think it’s also important to practice responses to anticipated questions. Keep answers under 2 min. One of the biggest mistakes I’ve seen is when candidates get nervous and take too long to answer one Q, not leaving time for others. Committees usually have 7-10 Qs to get through in 20-30 min.
