Sometimes I’m perplexed by the videos my Instagram algorithm promotes to me. But the video I just got of a Kermit the Frog puppet singing “Shiksa Goddess” from The Last Five Years musical? …Yeah, that one makes lots of sense.

Any institution where inquiry is curtailed, memory is monitored, creativity is limited, or knowledge production is forcible confined cannot call itself an institution where learning occurs. This is, without a doubt, another horrendous right-wing attack on every student’s rights to learn.

A6: Another wonderful q! It makes me wonder about censorship as barrier-building, a closing in or cordoning off. It builds states, yet it separates. If my work is to push against the clandestine and shameful formative spaces of my past, my work must orient toward a logic of liberation. #literacies

A4: I love this question. It makes me think of growing up on the Ohio River. To many, the river could be understood by its surface: smooth or rough, fast-flowing or measured. Yet my father, an adept fisherman, saw the river and its tributaries in complex ways he learned from his father. (1/2)

A3:Currently in my diss, I'm thinking a lot about how English educators recognize, confront, and work within the sociopolitical affordances and constraints of their local contexts. I'm wondering how critical #literacies may vastly differ depending on context. More soon as I continue collecting data!

A2: I hope, given our current admin's complete disregard of the humanity of swaths of people, #literacies spaces will continue historical legacies of radical practice. I think of this weekend's #NoKings protests as one example where work started in small communities became visible to many.

A1: Speaking broadly and from my own experiences, I recall so many formative clandestine spaces, veiled in secrecy and shame. While these spaces were pivotal in finally naming my queer identity, I hope other queer youth might have less turmoil in their own queer places and spaces. #literacies

A6: Thinking back to our opening question, I think a "Victorious Future" must necessarily be a co-constructed one, a future that, much like the good ole Fortnite gaming lobby, is made by a multitudinous mix of folks, all doing our own dances yet working toward the same #victory. #literacies

A5 (pt 2): Also. Something that just struck me. As someone still playing #PokemonGo like it’s 2016, I am wondering about the affects of gaming on the go, especially on mobile phones. What #literacies are practiced when gaming is mediated between the digital and physical world?

A5: My biggest suggestion? Look where the youth are gaming and follow them there! Almost a decade ago, I was teasing my high school students for their fascination with a new game called "Fortnite." Now, I play all the time. #literacies

A3: I wasn't able to engage in live, online game much during my youth (slow internet in rural KY woes). As I've grown a bit more familiar, I see so much #literacies work happening in these spaces. Each gaming lobby is a confluence of languages, all united in the #literacies of the game. So awesome!

A2: Not so much of an answer, but I would love to see this in practice! I wonder what sort of discursive elements transferred easily to this style of design and which felt most tense. Excited to learn more! #literacies

A1: My initial response is to think of a victory as a satisfactory outcome after working through a task. Yet I'm still puzzling over the relational aspects of who/what determines a victory. Esp when thinking about teaching, do I determine my victories? My students? #literacies
