Pallid Swift influx to go with the Ibis?!

After watching Ospreys on my guided Dart 'Osprey' Cruise and telling the group to look out for possible Glossy Ibis's this happens!! I estimated 70 but there were 91! perhaps the Wadebridge flock? at least 3 Ospreys, Kingfisher Mandarin Ducks, Common Sandpipers too.

Wander round the usual Whitby spots with @ollie333.bsky.social with a scattering of Pied Fly/Whinchat/Redstarts and then a surprise/not a surprise Glossy Ibis looking a bit out of place flying north a fair way offshore!

Following the discovery of Southern Small White laying eggs in Sussex I checked the Candytuft growing in my garden. Sure enough I found a couple of creamy white bottle shaped eggs - time will tell if it is the newest species to arrive in the UK

2/2 Zitting Cisticolas Clearly juveniles present with prominent pink bill bases/gapes, short tails, streaky crowns, also the presumed male (dull crown) coming with a mouthful of insects. Later 4 birds seen flying through the reeds, with 5 suspected, as reported later. Alas no photo #UKBirding

Looks like Clouded yellow influx is the biggest for quite some time 30+ in a single field of clover near Crowle, Lincs this afternoon @savebutterflies.bsky.social @migrantmothuk.bsky.social

Also, white stork is doing very well on the continent (partly due to reintroductions), see fe breeding trend in the Netherlands ((c) @sovonvogels.bsky.social ). No doubt this population outbreak will spread to the UK. Better to use limited funding for conservation to species that really need it.

Ahh..the Yorkshire coast in autumn. Last year I was lucky enough to see spectacular numbers of winter thrushes spiraling down out of the clouds @spurnbirdobs.bsky.social. I’m so grateful for these little mental treasures that I keep safe and unwrap when I need them most! #birds

Great day out doing raptor nests. Another 2 Peregrines sites ringed in Cork as well as a Kestrel nest right in Cork City! But the most amazing find was amongst mostly corvid remains was the remains of a HOOPOE in one of the Peregrine nests!! @npwsireland.bsky.social @btobirds.bsky.social 🪶
