Fundamentally, a lot of the problems in British politics comes from a political generation being forced to do something they think is a bad idea, to appease voters they think are wrong with beliefs they don't really understand.

Two best horror movies I've seen recently - Hokum (d Damian McCarthy) and Lee Cronin's The Mummy - are both directed by Irish people. Former is particularly good (and needs to be seen in a cinema because its visuals are so low-lit)

Another brilliant novel from Jan Carson. Each book gets deeper and better. Language which connects very deeply, characters that are cherished and understood for their complexity and a way of telling the history and possible future of us, without rehashing the narratives of the past.
