Here's the BBC Micro version of Ultimate Play The Game's 'Nightshade' assembling from source code. This was recovered from Paul Proctor's original development disks. It uses BBC BASIC's built-in assembler to generate the executable. From a time when games were all written in machine code. #6502

I coded this demo for RetroFest 2025 at the end of the month, using @ericretro.bsky.social 's Undrium tileset to recreate the original maze. It shows off VideoBeast, the new 8-bit video chip I'm working on, with multiple independent layers and sprites.

Another closer video. Pac-Man on my stunt MicroBeast, using VideoBeast and a handy portable 10" display. The Z80 code includes all of the graphics and sprites and comes in just under 11kB. Thanks to @ericretro.bsky.social for the tile set. I need to draw a Pac-Man next!
