#C64 #Delphian progress: revisited the galaxy generation, and now it's down to ~5500 stars. Feels like a better number. Also, sorted through my paperwork from the 80s version, so next step should be a complete game design.🙂 Might look at doing polygons too, but that might be a bit too much...🤔

Been working on the proc gen system for #Delphian, my #C64 space trader. With the code I have now, I'm currently looking at a modest sized galaxy of 266484 stars, with each star having 1-8 planets.🙂 Plenty to explore! Or is that too big...?🤔

After a bit of optimising (screaming at screen when it wasn't working, overjoyed when it finally was), here's WIP C64 Delphian running on a stock 1Mhz C64.😀 It's around 2-3 times faster than it was, and there's still more I can do... Should be pretty zippy on a C64U at 64Mhz, so will try later.🙂

So Delphian C64U running at 32Mhz... Runs a lot slower at 1Mhz, but the idea would be graphical settings to let the player decide between more detail and slower speed, or less detail and more speed.

A bit more work on a possible #C64 version of Delphian, my unreleased space trader from the 80s. This is running on a stock C64, and with interrupt driven controls it feels playable. I'll have to test with a lot more sprites on screen, but I'm happy with it so far.🙂

Seriously thinking of getting an electric car, so obviously I'm looking at getting a Tesla... Er, only kidding! Going to testdrive a BYD Dolphin Surf this weekend as I like the way it looks, and the specs are good for me.🙂

Been messing about with some C64 maths code for a possible version of Delphian. At 1Mhz on my C64U it's a bit slow, but probably playable for what I need once I add interrupt driven controls.

Sometimes I bounce around a bit on projects, so yesterday evening was experimenting on the C64 with an 8bit x 8bit multiply that uses 2 table lookups and 2 subtract instructions. Could use this on a C64 version of Delphian, my old space-trader game...🤔

I thought I'd lost all my paperwork for Delphian, a 3D space trader for the C64 that used large scaling sprites... but I found it all last night!😃 So now I'm imagining the game running on an overclocked C64U (or similar)... 🤔🥰

#C64 #Kouyate #RPG progress: one thing that's missing is the overworld enemy spawning. I could make life easy and just have random encounters... But I'm looking at adding a spawning system so you can see the enemies and decide whether to engage or avoid; get too close and they will fight or flee.

#C64 #Kouyate #RPG progress: I'm finalising everything from the start onwards, so the first two villages are now populated, with most of the scripting work for them done. Had to make a few changes to fix the flow, but it's better now and I'm happy.🙂 Feeling much better about things these days.🙂

#C64 #Kouyate #RPG progress: after a break, I'm back onto this! Reworked some weapons code so now I can have 62 weapons and 64 armour items. That should be enough... But now my save games are broken, so I'll have to play through the whole game again...🫨

Just for fun this evening, played Mega-CD Soul Star. Kina funny playing one of my own games, but I was in the mood... Did make me think of doing a PC retro style version. Same graphics and sound, but running at a much higher frame rate, plus loads more fx sprites!😃 Hmm... Might do it just for fun.🙂

#C64 #Kouyate #RPG progress: not been feeling good about things recently, so no coding progress. But have been doing some design work on weapons and armour. Planning on having 48 weapons and 48 armour items. Been watching anime on Crunchyroll to get some ideas on weapon and spell variety.

#C64 #Kouyate #RPG progress: fixed my PC sound issues with a USB sound card.🙂 So did a bit more work on wandering NPCs, adding the system that triggers combat when you're next to a hostile NPC. Turned out to be simple to implement.🙂 Down side: I now have to redo all dungeon enemies in the game...😟

One song that hits me hard is the Genesis song Since I Lost You. These days I cry just thinking of it. Some days I just don't know what to do...

#C64 #Kouyate #RPG progress: started adding in a simple "wandering" system for NPCs. The idea is: if neutral (used mostly for NPCs in settlements), will wander randomly; if hostile, will go into attack mode upon spotting the player; if scared, will run away from the player.

So I gave Moonring a go, but I'm finding it so frustrating to play that I think I'll be giving up on it. At least it was free. I've seen playthroughs and it's almost as if the game’s been made harder since release. Whatever, it's not a fun experience for me right now.
