I'll add I also like pretty much anything I've played by Francisco Gonzalez, including A Golden Wake and Shardlight, and his far earlier 8-part Ben Jordan series is a great way to see his growth as an adventure game developer in the Adventure Game Studio freeware scene!

Another great adventure game developer who's now doing his own thing is Francisco Gonzalez/@grundislav.games - his adventures are all really notable for being complex and replayable, incorporating player choice and offering layered, interesting characters. Lamplight City and Rosewater are awesome!

I picked up Rosewater a couple of weeks ago. Reading a newspaper early in the game, it reminded me of Lamplight City, a game that kept calling me from my backlog. Learned the games shared a universe, so jumped into Lamplight City and quite into it so far. Love detective point-n-click games.
