Last Friday (5/9), a computer issue suspended all BART service from before 5am until after 9am. While service was restored before the end of the morning rush, the resulting traffic impacts were felt for the rest of the day, showing just how important BART is and why we need to protect its future 1/5

it was wonderful to take state assemblymember bauer-kahan on a bus ride along with @transbaycoalition.bsky.social and talk about the importance of state level transit funding!! transit agencies across the state are relying on the state budget to include $2 billion for transit operations

Really bad take from where I sit (behind the wheel of a bus) because so much of the skill of an operator relies on human skills like intuiting the intentions of other humans. A surprising fraction of my work is reading faces, body language and gestures.

high fares does not mean better service for riders. LA metro last raised their transit fare in 2014 to $1.75 & haven't raised fares again for the past 11 years. los angeles also funds the largest frequent bus network in the US outside of NYC, & the largest transit expansion program in the US 1/3
