Okay, having watched 1.5 episodes of the new Maigret, this feels a lot like the Bergerac remake and the Lynley remake, like, dark but not too dark, gritty but not too gritty. Stretching every case over two episodes for some reason. I will probably stay with it, but I am not charmed at all.

If I only took my cues from tv, all but 1 or 2 pregnancies of women over 30 were done by IVF, and all of them in the UK (the actual numbers are 2% in the US, 3% in the UK, but I'm guessing tv writers might skew higher, or it's way more dramatic than an oops pregnancy for some reason)

I'll say this for the new Maigret (which is all in English, with various accents I have not sensed a pattern for yet) he has extremely French hair, like maximum French in a way I cannot explain but you'd know too
