We make flexible choices in new situations by knitting together information from separate relevant memories. But what governs which memories are retrieved and when? In a new preprint, we captured how people build decision variables from different memories by tracking their gaze on a blank screen.

New paper out today! Patients with Anorexia Nervosa make maladaptive decisions about what to eat. But we find that their decision making process does not differ from that of healthy individuals. Instead the brain regions engaged during deliberation about what to eat differ between groups.

A new paper shows that the inferred value of an unchosen option spreads to related items in memory. In other words: even outcomes you never experienced can generalize to guide future decisions.
